Betsy Blachly-Chapin is a master teacher of Early Childhood music and movement and a board-certified Music Therapist.
Betsy teaches at the Bank Street College of Education in a number of capacities. She is Music Therapist to the Family Center, on the faculty of the School for Children, and Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School.
In addition to maintaining a private practice, Betsy created Ellen’s Chorus, therapeutic singing sessions centered around terminally ill patients, for friends and family. She presented her work in this field at the Canadian Music Therapy Association National Conference in March, 2008.
Recently, Betsy has co-founded the Guitar Institute, whose motto is “Changing the World, One Guitar at a Time.” These semesters are geared toward teachers, parents and grandparents, giving them basic guitar skills and enabling people to use the guitar in Early Childhood classroom and home settings to make music and singing come alive.
More than anything, Betsy enjoys being a percussionist, guitarist and singer.
And maybe even more than that, Betsy enjoys being a parent and grandmother to four grandchildren.
